Terms of Use
Last updated 17 October 2026
These terms cover the Chat Preserver browser extension and this website. Chat Preserver is run by a sole proprietor in Texas, USA. By installing or buying it, you agree to these terms.
The license
- The free version may be used by anyone, for personal or work use.
- A Pro license is for one person, on up to 3 computers. It includes all 2.x updates. It does not expire.
- Don't share, resell or publish your license key, or try to get around the license check.
Purchases
Pro is sold through Lemon Squeezy, which acts as our reseller and merchant of record. Lemon Squeezy processes your payment, charges any sales tax or VAT, and issues your receipt and license key; its own terms apply to the purchase. Refunds follow our refund policy.
Your use of ChatGPT
- Chat Preserver saves chats your own ChatGPT account can open. You're responsible for following OpenAI's terms, and your organization's policies when you use a work account.
- Chat Preserver depends on how ChatGPT's website works. If OpenAI changes it, saving may stop working until an update is released.
- Files ChatGPT has deleted or let expire can't be recovered. They're listed by name in the reader.
Your data
Everything is saved only to your computer. We never receive your chats or files, so we can't restore them if you lose them. See the privacy policy.
No warranty and limit of liability
Chat Preserver is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind. To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for your license. The SHA-256 fingerprints show that a saved file hasn't changed since it was saved; they don't certify what ChatGPT said for legal purposes.
Changes and contact
We may update these terms; the new version will be posted here with a new date. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, USA. Questions: support@chatpreserver.com.
